The Lesson of the Cucumber Tulip

I want to share a story with you that I heard this past Sunday. Actually, it was the ‘rest of the story’ that was shared after the service by our guest speaker, Bud. During the sermon, he told how he and his wife had stopped at a house while on a walk to check out a somewhat rare Cucumber Tulip tree. The owner of the tree eagerly talked about it and about his life, but it wasn’t until after chu ..More

Easing the Pain

This past week I had the unfortunate need to visit an endodontist for a root canal.  I’m no stranger to the dentist chair and I’m sure my mouth has brought a smile to every dentist I’ve ever visited.  If fillings were still made out of that silver stuff, I’d probably set off the metal detectors at the airport.

From prior experience, I knew there would be some lingering pain and after a couple of days, I’d be fine.  Boy was I wrong.  Through no fault of the dentist, I apparently had some infection that caused me excruciating pain.  It was amazing how one little tooth could affect my whole mouth and body.

Life can sometimes be very similar to that tooth.  Most of the time you take things for granted and then one day, you get hit with a sharp pain.  In life, it may be that you were downsized in your job, or a family member passed away, or you find something out about your child that breaks your heart.

Whatever the pain may be, we thankfully have a “great physician” that can help diagnose and heal every heartache.  Unbelievably there is no charge for His advice, He will listen to you day and night, and He will never make judgments about you.   So the next time that pain strikes, reach out to the One who can help take your pain away and let Him speak to your deepest heartaches.  Until next week …Walk in Love.

Lord, I want to thank you for each time that You have stepped into the life of my family and healed our pains.  There has been discouragement and setbacks along life’s journey, but You have always been there to pick us when we were down.  I pray that You would continue be with us in every decision we make.  Especially help my child / children to trust in You and to know that You are the only real answer to life’s problems.   In Jesus name.

Isa 40:28  Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or, whine, Israel, saying, "God has lost track of me.  He doesn't care what happens to me"?  Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening? God doesn't come and go. God lasts.   He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.  He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.   And he knows everything, inside and out.  He energizes those who get tired and gives fresh strength to dropouts.    (The Message)

Pain is pain, but if you can seek Him in the darkness of your midnight, your pain can become the wind beneath your wings that lifts you into His presence!  -- Tommy Tenney

Did this story speak to you? Is God a part of your life? If God's not a part of your life, or you're not sure He is, you can make sure right now. We believe that God sent his son Jesus Christ to come to earth to live as a man. We believe that everyone has sinned and no one is perfect. We believe Jesus willingly went to the cross to die for all of us to forgive our sins.

We believe that the way to heaven is not through being a good person or through doing good deeds, but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You can have that today by praying this simple prayer: God, I've messed up and have sinned against you. Please forgive me. I need you in my life. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment of my sins and that you forgive me of all of my sins because of what Jesus did. Lord, I ask now that you fill me with your spirit and help me to live a life for you. Amen.
